• A. Requirements 基本要求

  • A baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association is required. 大專以上學歷。

  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese. 普通話流利。

  • Proficient in reading and writing traditional Chinese characters and Zhuyin symbols. 熟悉繁體中文字及注音符號。

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills. 良好人際溝通技巧。

  • Familiar with Chinese culture. 熟悉中華文化。

  • Comfortable with using technology in the classroom. 能在課堂中操作電腦及投影機。

  • Legal status to work in the United States. 合法在美國工作的身分。

  • Pass a criminal background check. 通過犯罪紀錄驗證。

• B. Other Desired Qualities 額外特質

  • Personal experience of working or studying in Mandarin-speaking territories. 曾在華語地區工作或求學。

  • Proficient in reading and writing pinyin or willing to learn. 熟悉或願意學習漢語拼音。

  • A strong passion for teaching Chinese language and culture. 對中文教學及文化的熱情。

  • Highly compassionate and energetic approach to teaching. 有同理心並且有活力的教學方式。

  • Familiar with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) National Standards for Foreign Language Education (the 5 Cs) and commitment to utilizing them in planning and teaching. 熟悉並願意遵循ACTFL的5C教學法。

• C. Duties and Responsibilities 責任義務

  • Teach Chinese language and culture. 教授中文及中華文化。

  • Lead the in-class cultural activities of choice (singing/dancing/painting/calligraphy/origami/…). 在課堂中帶領學生從事自選的文化活動(唱歌/跳舞/國畫/書法/摺紙/…)

  • Prepare appropriate materials prior to each class and review and correct student’s tests and other assignments. 課前準備教材，課後批改學生考試及作業。

  • Grade individual students’ learning performance and communicate it to both the parents and staff members. 評量學生學習表現，並提供給家長及幹部。

  • Effectively manage classroom teaching and learning time. 有效掌握課堂秩序及時間。

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. 維持跟家長學生幹部的良好關係。

  • Attend the treacher meetings. 出席定期教師會議。

PORTLAND CHINESE SCHOOL TEACHER HIRING PROCESS

教師聘僱過程

1. All qualified applicants should fill out the teacher resume form and send it to the academic director (pcs.staff.academic@gmail.com). 申請人須填寫制式履歷表然後寄給教務。

2. The academic director will review your resume and arrange an interview if you are qualified. This interview can be bundled with school visit and class observation. 教務會評估履歷並且為合適的候選人安排面試。面試可以在校內進行並且到班級觀察上課情況。

3. The accepted applicant will receive a one-year contract from the academic director, which should be signed and sent back. 教務將提供一年的合約給被錄取的老師。老師請在簽名後回傳。

4. The accepted applicant will need to give consent for a criminal background check. The applicant should also provide bank account information and tax ID to school for receiving salary. 老師還需授權犯罪背景驗證，以及為薪水提供銀行帳號和繳稅編號。

5. Teaching materials will be provided by the academic director with other useful information. 教務將提供所需教材以及其他參考資料。
